"I was living with my mother and step-father in Port Harcourt. In the night when cats or birds cried, they will say I transformed into those animals; then be scratching and oppressing them. When I denied it, they will use koboko (horse-whip) and beat me all over my body… So one day, my mother put me in a car to drop me in my uncle’s house at Afaha Nsit, Akwa Ibom State.

When I came, my uncle was very sick; so he died. His children said that I killed him; they beat me with sticks, wire, and poured wild ants all over my body, then forced me out of the house since last year. So I roamed the streets and sleep in the bush close to a market. In the night, I will go and sleep in that market. Some time people will come and see me there(xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx)..."

--13 years old Edikan, told Sam Itauma and a cream rescue volunteers after she was rescued from the hands of human traffickers by CRARN/YHN Rescued Team before taken to CRARN Centre.

She later told the volunteers that two of her friends she met on the street were always also willing to be rescued.
